A romance with a bit of mystery and mayhem. Cajun lifestyle 101 at its best. While the heroine learns of Cajun life, so does the reader. I actually gave up precious sleep to finish this book.
Gripping read, especially the latter half with just enough interesting history and love story to make me keep turning pages till the end!
Mardi Gras Madness is a delightful story which starts as a standard Northern-girl-moves-to small-town-in-the-South, but soon becomes so much more.
Lynn Shurr weaves the story of the heroine's new life with that of an ancestor of the new man in her life. As she reads the other woman's diaries, we share both women's thoughts, hopes, heartaches,loves, desires, trails and triumphs.With a number of tense and dangerous situations experienced in both the past and present, this book contains the best of a classic romance novel.
I recommend it for anyone looking for nice read, a story with truly adult situations, but without graphic , explicit sexual descriptions.
The varied plots intermingling kept pulling me into the story. Again, strong female characters handling what life put in front of them was a plus. I also enjoyed how it overlapped the previous book's history.
I purchased a paperback copy of "Mardi Gras Madness" because I wanted to read something by this author. Romances are not my first choice but I do read several books a week and wanted to try something a little different. I was very pleased! This was a very enjoyable read--I even wanted it to last for a few more pages. I lived in this part of Louisiana for a time and really miss the Cajun culture, language, names, history and food. There's a little mystery blended in with the romance. There's even some genealogy included in the old diaries left by a relative of one of the characters. I plan on reading another one by this author!
